7 unique things to do during Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival

4 August 2023

Visiting Scotland’s beautiful capital for the world famous Fringe Festival? We have put together a list of unique and wonderful things to do during your visit and fill your time between the shows!

With its recent extension to Newhaven, the tram is a must try (check out our Tram stop bar crawl for you to level up your experience)! Hop on and off Edinburgh’s amazing tram service and work your way around some of the city’s quirkiest bars along the way for a tram-tastic experience.

The Fringe itself has to be included in things to do so we have picked out some of our favourite shows for you to attend during your visit. ‘360 Allstars’ is a must see event, putting on an incredible urban circus show which has sold out on Broadway! Another must see is ‘1 and Only Absolute Burlesque Cabaret’, selling out ever since it first opened in ,this is a must see extravaganza.

Of course Fayre Play needs to be on the list as Scotland’s first indoor adult funfair-games experience. With mouth watering scran and bevvies alongside 9 nostalgic funfair games, Fayre Play is a must visit for anyone with a competitive streak, whether competing against yourself or your pals, it’s a blast!

Want a breath of fresh air? Why not take a walk up Calton Hill for incredible views of the capital’s skyline. The  walk is 5-10 minutes and not only does it boast amazing views, but also hosts some of Edinburgh’s iconic monuments such as the National Monument and Robert Burns Monument.

Whilst up Calton Hill why not make a pit stop to the City Observatory to find the original observatory which has since reopened in 2018 as an art exhibition with regular public exhibitions!

Go all out during your Fringe experience and book an afternoon tea experience on one of Edinburgh’s iconic buses. Enjoy a relaxing spot of tea as you drive past some of Edinburgh’s most iconic sights in between your shows at the festival.

Finally, Edinburgh Street Food is a must visit whilst in the city. Open 7 days a week with over 10 different independent street food vendors and live entertainment, the Street Food is  the perfect stop to quench your hunger for all your food needs during your visit.

We hope you have a fantastic Fringe experience and we look forward to welcoming you in for some fun and games between the show.
